First three chapters were originally published as La prière, (Neuchâtel : Delachaux et Nieslé, 1953), and translated by Sara F. Terrien for publication in USA as Prayer (Westminster Press, 1952). The translation has been revised for this British edition by B.E. Hooke. The remaining chapters edited by A. Roulin, were published as La proclamation de l'Evangile (Delachaux et Niestlé, 1961), and have been translated by B.E. Hooke. The editorial notes are supplied by the British publisher.
