Artist's statement. "The book consists of reproductions of one page in sequence from each of the editions of The Decameron as found in the Brotherton Library University of Leeds, the Main Library University of Manchester and my own shelves. The first page is taken from the first book, the second from the next and so on until the end of the first day. The books were taken in order from left to right, from shelf to shelf, top to bottom. This procedure evidently leads to substantial disjunction in narrative continuity, as the text jumps forward and back, with repetitions and elisions. Sometimes skipping several stories at the turn of a page, and from one language to another."
